Summit Provides Professional Networking Platform: MBA News

At the end of last year’s selection process, the first MBA World Summit – held in Hong Kong – was attended by 55 MBA students studying at business schools in 11 different countries and representing 26 different nationalities between them. This was an internationally diverse group then, but one that nonetheless reinforced the gender gap seen on many MBA programs, with a male to female ratio of 71% to 29%.

Resources at the MBA World Summit are centered on allowing the students to share ideas and provide professional networking opportunities – with recruiters from the event’s partners as well as fellow MBA students. Companies featured this year are Merck, Deutsche Bank, Bertelsmann, BASF, and Goodgame Studios.

One MBA student who is looking forward to the professional networking opportunities at her disposal during the MBA World Summit 2015 is Anna Helena Juenemann from Rotterdam School of Management’s full-time MBA class of 2016:

“I look forward to meeting the other MBAs and building on ideas with these top-talented professionals to co-create strategies pertaining to the future of business. These MBAs will constitute a qualified network to support each other to take the best possible decisions in the business world,” said the Rotterdam School of Management student.

From which other schools might one expect to find students taking part in the event’s professional networking initiatives?

In terms of school representation, London Business School led the way at last year’s summit with 10 MBA students in attendance, ahead of Stanford GSB who sent nine. This year’s hosts, IESE, along with NUS Business School, both had five MBAs in attendance. Juenemann, meanwhile, will be the first student to attend from Rotterdam School of Management – indeed, those studying at European institutions made up just 20% of the total of those taking part in the Hong Kong event, even including London Business School’s contribution.
